My Experience with the ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Dark Hero
Building a PC can be an exciting yet challenging endeavor. As an avid photographer, I rely heavily on my computer for editing and storing my precious images. However, my previous motherboard, the Z670, proved to be a disappointment. It suffered from excessive heating issues, causing my CPU to overheat frequently. Additionally, I encountered problems with the BIOS, which further exacerbated the overheating problem. The resulting data loss was devastating.
In an effort to avoid such PC failures and protect my valuable data, I decided to build a Synology cloud system. While this solution provided some peace of mind, I couldn’t help but wonder if ASUS intentionally released faulty BIOS updates to encourage users to purchase newer models, such as the Z790. The lengthy repair process and the temptation to build a new PC while waiting for repairs only added to my frustration.
However, my experience with the ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Dark Hero
it has been a game-changer. This motherboard has successfully addressed the issues I faced with its predecessor. The Z790 works seamlessly with the latest hardware, providing a smooth and reliable performance. Whether I’m editing images in Adobe software or engaging in other demanding tasks, the Z790 delivers exceptional results.
Despite the overall positive experience
I have encountered a minor issue with FIFA getting stuck on my AOC monitor with a 165Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time. Nevertheless, this does not overshadow the excellent performance I have witnessed in other areas.
While I appreciate the stability and longevity the Z790 offers, I can’t help but feel wary of potential future tactics by ASUS to maximize profits. Nonetheless, for now, I am enjoying the benefits of this impressive motherboard and saving money on unnecessary upgrades.

Moving to a Synology cloud system seems like a smart solution to mitigate these PC failures and data loss risks. However, your suspicion about whether Asus intentionally releases flawed BIOS to drive sales of new motherboards is a serious concern. While it’s always important to consider the possibility of planned obsolescence in the tech industry, it’s difficult to make definitive claims without concrete evidence.
